Name: Lucina Detsiogo
Occupation: ICT assistant technician
I live with my parents and younger sister. I completed my year 12 education at Nauru Secondary School. I speak 2 languages, Nauruan and English.
I love composing and singing songs and recording music for leisure. I enjoy playing basketball as my favourite sport, and I island dance for fun and entertainment.
I’m interested in learning and discovering about my own culture and traditions but just as important to embrace the broad and colourful culture and traditions of our pacific islands.
Since being crowned Miss Nauru, I embarked on a mission to visit all 10 schools in Nauru to promote the value and importance of education.
I believe education is the key to success and a brighter future. I believe our children should be given every opportunity to receive quality education and a chance to broaden their horizons in life, both professionally and personally.
I also travelled abroad to Brisbane, Australia where I visited 5 schools and spoke of Nauru’s culture.
I currently work for the Nauru government’s ICT department, but I would also like to be a flight attendant as an opportunity to travel and learn, but also to financially support my goal to take up part time university studies.
